‘It’s getting harder’: As coronavirus spreads, Marylanders overseas hope window to get home soon isn’t closing

From her apartment in Lima, Peru, Elana Liebow-Feeser attends to her job on Skype, chats online with friends and family, watches “Harry Potter” movies, tries out dances from YouTube, and fashions new recipes suffused with Old Bay — an homage to her Maryland roots. She is trying not to worry that a window seems to be closing on getting her back to Baltimore soon, so she can ride out the coronavirus pandemic with her parents and begin planning for medical school in the fall.
