Ultimate Girls Day Out Returns to Pimlico on Black-Eyed Susan Day

BALTIMORE – In addition to world-class racing led by the 92nd running of the $250,000 Black-Eyed Susan (G2) for 3-year-old fillies, Pimlico Race Course will once again host the Ultimate Girls Day Out on May 20, an entire day dedicated to the spirit and strength of women.

As part of the celebration, there will be multiple events throughout the day to complement a 14-race card that features seven stakes races including the Sagamore Spirit Pimlico Special (G3), Miss Preakness (G3) and Allaire DuPont Distaff (G3). Gates open at 9:30 a.m. with a first-race post time of 11:30 a.m.

Sunrise at Old Hilltop will feature 20-minute escorted walking tours of the backstretch from 6-9 a.m., including a visit with the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, who will perform on track during the afternoon. For more information, contact Diana Harbaugh at .

A celebrity jockey autograph session will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on the first floor grandstand, followed by the Bet Like a Girl Handicapping Contest from 10:30 to 11 a.m. A seminar and betting challenge will pit Gabby Gaudet, Maggie Wolfendale and Jeannine Edwards in a battle for bragging rights, with their winnings being donated to Susan G. Komen Maryland and the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.

Immediately following the handicapping contest, authors Joanne Beusch (Brightly Shining: The Horse That Nobody Wanted), Natalie Keller (Turning for Home) and Eliza McGraw (Here Comes Exterminator!) will sign copies of their books from noon to 2 p.m.

Hooves & Heels Fashion Event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. with judging on the concourse apron of the Girls Galleria. Ladies sporting their finest Black-Eyed Susan Day attire will be selected as finalists with prizes to all winners. Also on the apron, guests can shop for eclectic pieces and rare finds from noon to 6:30 p.m.

Country artist Shane Gamble will perform along with DJ Bobby Dawson on the concourse apron from noon to 6 p.m. The U.S. Air Force ‘Wings of Blue’ Parachute Team, based in Colorado Springs, Col., will also conduct an aerial demonstration.

A John Deere Tractor Raffle benefiting Susan G. Komen Maryland and the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance will be held, with the winner announced from the trackside winner’s circle.
